Please take a look at our suggested budget for Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, and China. Below is a list of costs you will most likely incur when arriving in Asia. These are estimated and will vary depending on location. Asia can be a great place for TESOL teachers to save money if they stick to their budget. Your online TESOL course will be your first costs, then the flight and visas. As in any new country you will want to explore, buy souvenirs, eat food you more familiar with, it is important to remember to keep these costs within your budget. Our calculations for living expenses is an approximate figure, clients are responsible for their own budget.

Suggested budget for Taiwan

  • Flight: Approximately $1100 - Please check with your local travel agent for best rates
  • Living expenses: Approximately $570 - This is based on:
  • Accommodation - 10,000 $NT (per month). This Includes first week in hotel
  • Food - 3000 $NT per month (eating local food)
  • Travel - 1000 $NT per month (to and from work)
  • Entertainment - 4000 $NT per month (1000 $NT per weekend)

Note : In Taiwan you will get a minimum salary package of 50,000 $NT.
If you work extra classes you could double your salary very easily.

Suggested budget for Thailand

  • Visa: Approximately $62
  • Flight: Approximately $1100 - Please check with your local travel agent for best rates
  • Living expenses: Approximately $465 - This is based on:
  • Accommodation -  7000 Baht (per month). This Includes first week in hotel
  • Food - 3000 Baht per month (eating local food)
  • Travel - 1000 Baht per month (to and from work)
  • Entertainment - 4000 Baht per month (1000 Baht per weekend)

Note : In Thailand you will get a minimum salary package of between 25,000 – 35,000 Thai Baht.
If you work extra classes you could double your salary very easily.

Suggested budget for South Korea

  • Visa: Approximately $30
  • Flights will be provided by the school
  • Living expenses: Approximately $500 - This is based on:
  • Accommodation will be provided by the school
  • Food - 120,000 Won per month (eating local food)
  • Travel - your accommodation will be within walking distance to the school
  • Entertainment - 400,000 Won per month (100,000 Won per weekend)

Note : In South Korea you will get a salary package of between 1.8 – 2.7 Million South Korean Won.

Suggested budget for China

  • Visa: Approximately $130 ($30 for non US citizens)
  • Flight: Approximately $1200 - Please check with your local travel agent for best rates
  • Living expenses: Approximately $400 - This is based on:
  • Accommodation will be provided by the school
  • Food - 750 Yuan per month (eating local food)
  • Travel - your accommodation will be within walking distance to the school
  • Entertainment - 1600 Yuan per month (400 Yuan per weekend)

Note : In China you will get a minimum salary package of between 4000 – 7000 Yuan.
If you work extra classes you could double your salary very easily.
